Over the course of my modular workbench project, and my time spent upgrading the TDS shop, I have built quite a few torsion boxes, large and small. Lightweight for their strength, each was built to an exacting level of flatness and dimensional stability, providing an ideal working surface for future work. Pictured above is the TDS bench, rebuilt under my design and supervision, including the leg braces and shelves adapted from my modular workbench project. Seen below are photos from my initial torsion box build, which I then used as a platform to build half a dozen more. Torsion boxes are a method of construction I find myself returning to time and time again, whether for a guitar case, a fold down shop ramp, or floating shelves.Â
