Three years into my carpentry career I had a vision: a modular workbench that stacked together like Legos, like a Systainer or Packout but more useful for the squareness and strength of the components, and customized to my needs and workflow. After several years of work, my vision has become a reality. Complete with rolling bases, strong stackable blocks complete with either drawers or open storage, and torsion box workbench tops that allow for a wide array of workholding solutions, this project has revolutionized how I work. From facilitating an organized work van to setting up a fully equipped wood shop anywhere I want, I am continually finding new ways to utilize this platform to achieve the efficient and precise work I'm continually aiming for.
This project is a continual iterative process. My next steps are to streamline the system, building out the workbench top options while slimming down the number of components required to set up on site. Adding a table saw and a simplified router table will be part of this effort.
